Bulletin — In swift fashion, the SMART Act passed through the Senate today on its way to the White House to become law.  Congratulations to all of those who have worked tirelessly to make this happen.

We are delighted to report that, following House passage (401 to 3) on Wednesday, the Senate this evening passed the SMART Act by unanimous consent.  This is a tremendous achievement for the MARC Coalition, and was truly a complete team effort.   Indeed, in light of the fact that three years ago barely anyone in Congress had ever heard of MSP, much less understood the issues, that fact that we have passed reform legislation in such a short period is nothing short of remarkable, and a true testament to the power that the MARC Coalition has brought into the Congress.  Congratulations on getting the legislation passed!

From here the SMART Act goes to the White House to be signed into law by the President.  We will provide an update in the coming days regarding any specifics we are able to learn about that process.
There are a thousand thank you’s that need to be shared, and in time we will do so.  Allow us to offer a huge measure of thanks to each of you for making today’s passage of the SMART Act through the Congress a reality.
We hope that passage of the SMART Act will make everyone’s holiday just that more brighter   Our best wishes to each and every one of you for a terrific holiday season, and for a safe and healthy new year.
