CMS issued a new Technical Alert on November 10, 2014. Click here to read it in its entirety.
No action is required by Franco Signor clients. CMS, effective July 1, 2015, will provide RREs with the ability to identify a “Recovery Agent” for conditional payments. To do so, new fields will be added to the MMSEA TIN Reference File, and those fields are intended to replace the present “workaround” used by most Third Party Administrators (TPAs). These new fields are optional, but effective July 1, 2015, the “workaround” used by TPAs will no longer be allowed. The RRE will always receive copies of all CMS correspondence, whether or not a “Recovery Agent” is identified.
Franco Signor applauds CMS for adding these important fields as it provides RREs with needed flexibility to manage their conditional payment exposure. Again, Franco Signor clients need not take any action, we will manage the change on your behalf.
