In December 2017 last year, I attended the Women to Watch conference hosted by CLM/Business Insurance in New York City. During the conference, the newly formed Women to Watch Foundation was introduced to the attendees by the Board of Directors with the common goal of advancing women and girls globally.
For the initial two years of its Charter, the Women to Watch Foundation is focused on providing education, screening and treatment to women and young girls in developing countries to protect against cervical cancer, which is in 90% of cases completely preventable. Each year 528,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and 311,000 ultimately die from this completely preventable disease. Through the gracious contributions of our donors, the Women to Watch Foundation can fund education, screening and treatment of cervical cancer to women and girls in Sub-Sahara Africa.
I feel the need to reiterate that incredible statistic – in 90% of cases, we could have prevented these women from getting sick and dying if they had access to the necessary vaccinations. After hearing all of this, the thoughts that crossed my mind were: “How can we continue to let this happen, when we have the vaccinations to prevent this from occurring? Why are women and girls dying unnecessarily?”
After hearing more about the Women to Watch Foundation’s cause, I had a burning fire within that I wanted to help. I contacted Linda Lane, the President of the Foundation, to see how I could assist. The Board decided to extend the Foundation’s outreach, and I was grateful to have been chosen this year to be one of the Women to Watch Foundation’s Ambassadors.
As such, I am reaching out as an Ambassador for the Women to Watch Foundation to those that regularly read my blogs on Medicare/Medicaid Secondary Payer compliance to see if you can support this important cause. We need your help to succeed. I am asking for your support in spearheading this industry movement by providing funding for our project. The foundation has secured its official 501(c) 3 status, and the response and generosity of leaders in our industry has been tremendous, but there is still so much more we can do to help these girls and women.
It would mean a great deal to me if you would support this cause that I feel so strongly about. You may donate through our GoFundMe Page which can be found here- https://www.gofundme.com/join-w2w-in-ending-cervical-cancer ). Donations can also be mailed directly to: Women to Watch Foundation, 4343 Grand Old Ave, Suite 110, Gurnee, IL 60031. Donors will be recognized at the 2018 Women to Watch Conference this year in New York City, and I hope to see you there!
